Hi, my name is Carolina Arroba, and Dadú started from my desire to help small communities in my home country. After living 5 years in Courtenay, on Vancouver Island, Canada; I came back to Ecuador and really began to notice the beautiful handmade work from our local artisans. Work that takes years to learn and a handcraft that few can match. I decided to apply what I learned in the Comox Valley about sustainable products which are eco friendly, and also I wanted to make these artisans known and get recognized and to be paid what their time and effort is really worth.
Through partnership with WCM we can now promote their incredible work world wide and help these artisans and their small impoverished communities grow. My Canadian born husband, our 3 kids and I sold our Comox Valley home October 2021 and moved to my home country of Ecuador. It is here I have become increasingly excited to promote and contribute to small, local and sustainable efforts. I am excited to partner with West Coast Mamas and their deep rooted initiative to give back through these mindful practices.
Paja Toquilla is the material used mostly for the famous Panama Hats that are actually Ecuadorian. But there are many other products that can be made with this beautiful and life lasting material. Your product is ethically created using 100% paja Toquilla (toquilla straw).
The technique used for our products is so great they will last a lifetime.
Very low maintenance and does great with humidity. They are the perfect touch of nature for your home, outfit or even toy.
