For Immediate Release:
CAMPBELL RIVER, BC, JANUARY 3, 2020 — West Coast Mamas, the popular retail clothing shop and online store based in Campbell River announced today their plans to sell the business and its acquired assets for $40,000.
“It’s been a hard decision to make, but I am so pleased with what the business has grown into since launching in January 2017,” says Michele van der Wielen, founder and owner of West Coast Mamas. “It has expanded so much recently with the online and physical locations that I want to see the business get the time and dedication it deserves, and that’s why we’re looking for a new owner.”
West Coast Mamas (WCM) has been curating ethical and sustainable clothing and goods from local suppliers for three years, offering their local and online communities an affordable alternative to big-box retailers. The retail shop is located in the heart of downtown at 1074 Shoppers Row and the lease is currently shared with a local art gallery. Both businesses are open to discussions around a combined sale or how the relationship might look in the future.
In addition to the store lease, the sale will also include all retail stock, supplies, professional photography, the point-of-sale system, and the ownership of the online store which attracts customers from across Canada, the United States and Europe.
“We carry clothing and gifts from Vancouver Island & British Columbia, with a select few BC-owned and ethically made-abroad goods. We research each maker or manufacturer to understand their practices, ensuring that we are representing companies with proven ethics,” says van der Wielen.
The business has been acclaimed in the community for shifting traditional practices in showcasing their products, choosing instead to work with local photographers and feature local models, moms, kids and families in their photoshoots at iconic Campbell River locations.
